Current Status of Greater Noida West Metro- Everything you should know.

I live in Greater Noida West formerly known as Noida Extension and trust me nothing would make me more happy than the metro connectivity to the location, the connectivity will take some cars off the road resulting in lesser congestion on road and lesser pollution, a win-win situation for everyone after all who wants to get stuck in traffic and breath hazardous air all day long.
Let’s understand this in terms of a real life story, a biopic of sort in reverse order, starting with today.

10th March 2022: BJP has won the elections and we residents really hope to get the center’s pending approval on the metro.

March 2022: Even though the biddings were open and the lowest bidder was selected “GR Infraprojects Ltd” however the project could not commence since this announcement came just a week before the UP election code of conduct came into picture and central govt was yet to give approval, now only after the election results are declared on 10 March 2022 and new UP govt is formed can this resume.

28th Dec 2021: GR Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing a 9.6 km extension of Noida Metro’s Aqua Line from Noida Sector-51 to Sector 2 of Greater Noida West.

4th Round: NMRC reinvited the tenders on 1st June 2021, with increased estimate from Rs. 491.99 crore to Rs. 563.04 crore and unchanged deadline at 24 months, hopefully this increase in project cost could cast it’s magic and the tendering thing goes through..

3rd Round: NMRC re-invited tenders in December 2020, received two bids from Sam India and GR Infraprojects in mid-December, and cancelled the tender on 28th Feb 2021 due to administrative reasons the tender was cancelled

In May 2020, NMRC started the survey for testing soil, topography and geography on the 14.9km Metro corridor

2nd Round: NMRC re-invited tenders in September 2020, received two bids from Sam India and GR Infraprojects in mid-November, and cancelled the tender in November-end.

1st Round: NMRC had originally invited tenders in May 2020, received bids from 3 firms (1 of which was not a construction firm), and cancelled the tender in July to seek a better response.

Construction of Greno West Metro was approved by Uttar Pradesh government on 12th Dec 2019 to connect Noida and Greater Noida, it’s only after this announcement I bought the property in Greater Noida West

Initially the Greno West Metro project was stalled in 2017 on the ground that the route was not economically viable considering the low population in the areas located along the proposed route.

It’s funny, how a project which has just 24 months construction timeline was visualised in 2017 thousands of buyers invested in property based on this hope, builders advertised, showed  metro in their brochure, explained about the proximity to the metro station and yet 5 years down the line, the project is yet waiting for the green signal from the central government, hopefully it gets through and residents get freedom from endless traffic woes.
