An underpass is being developed at Kisan Chowk to reduce the traffic woes.

Good news for greater noida west residents who are commuting to Noida and Delhi for work and get sucked into traffic congestion. To overcome the traffic congestion in the city, the Greater Noida Authority has hired an engineering consultant firm, named RITES, in Nov, 2021.

RITES has completed its survey of 5 busiest traffic congestion in the city and suggested building an underpass at Kisan chowk to facilitate smooth traffic movement. These major traffic congestions places are- Kisan Chowk, Tilapta Chowk, Surajpur entry zone, Pari Chowk and Honda chowk.

This action will give the first underpass to Greater Noida West, formerly known as Noida extension. RITES is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) and making a strategy to handle the traffic woes. Also keep in mind the population numbers after 10 years, said officials. As of now the current population of the city is 1 million and it is estimated that after 10 years the population would be 2.5 millions in Greater Noida west.

The underpass will link to Bisrakh, Ghaziabad and provide decongested traffic between Noida & Greater Noida. It is estimated that almost 13000 vehicles will use this underpass everyday. As mentioned above the underpass will be built at Kisan chowk with a project cost of 60 crores and would take 24 months to complete.

Kisan chowk is a major link which helps commuters to travel to Ghaziabad, Hapur and Meerut via Delhi-Meerut expressway which is not possible in morning and evening office peak hour because of the huge traffic however after the completion of Underpass, reduces the traffic woes.

The flyway construction work is in progress at Parthala chowk which will also overcome the traffic problem.

The reason for building an underpass is the elevated Aqua Line metro (which would be completed in 24 months after the work started) to not create any barrier in metro construction work. Officials said, once the DPR is completed by RITES, an engineering consultancy firm, the decision will be taken after Diwali.
